Engaging communities and transforming lives.

Annual salary: £25,000 - £28,000

Opportunities: full-time, permanent

Every year we help thousands of people into sustainable, meaningful employment. We wouldn't be able to deliver these important services without the support and engagement of our local communities.

We're always looking for Community Engagement Officers to engage communities, forge relationships and help customers access the support and services they need at a local level.

About the role.

You will work within local job centres and central employment hubs, hosting engagement sessions and forging relationships with potential customers and partners. Working alongside our Community Partnership Network, you’ll help customers access complementary support services and enable them to lead fulfilling, independent lives.

What we look for.
What we offer.
  • A strong communicator with Community Engagement experience working with vulnerable customers.
  • Experience working with community-based agencies and authorities to offer customers pathways to integration and employment.
  • A customer-focused individual who’s compassion and empathy enables them to refer members of the local community to programmes that remove barriers to employment.
  • Experience of working to structured targets and deadlines

This role would suit a strong team player with a positive and flexible approach. Someone with experience of people development — confident to listen, question and build relationships.

  • Medicash healthcare cash plan

All colleagues can save money on a range of treatments and services, and claim reimbursements for dental, optical, physiotherapy, acupuncture, chiropractor, homeopathy and other consultations.

  • Wellbeing benefits

Colleagues have access to Ability First, an internal service to support colleagues in overcoming barriers at work.

We offer a nine-month support programme called Able Futures, to help people manage and overcome their mental health challenges within the workplace.

All colleagues have access to a premium Headspace account, where they can access more than 1,000 hours of mindfulness, health and sleep content.

As a voluntary benefit, also offer comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, provided by Nuffield Health.

  • Progression opportunities

We have a dedicated online learning portal to support self-directed learning to learn new skills and spark your inspiration. We also offer accredited apprenticeships and have a structured MentorU programme that give colleagues an opportunity to learn from senior leaders across Maximus.

  • Annual Leave entitlement

We offer 25 days annual leave, with the option to buy or sell up to five days of leave during the annual benefits window. To reward long-serving colleagues, your annual leave entitlement increases to 27 after five years with the company.
